>>> In one of the silliest examples of political correctness in years, a poster company has changed one of the greatest album covers in music history. The cover of the Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road (above left) features Paul McCartney holding a cigarette. In a new poster edition of the cover (above right), it's been removed. [I've put a red box around the portion of the image in question.] A spokeman for Apple Records (the label that the group founded) told the BBC: "We have never agreed to anything like this. It seems these poster companies got a little carried away. They shouldn't have done what they have, but there isn't much we can do about it now." |
