The
FBI's File on the Columbine Massacre
|
>>> The Memory Hole filed a Freedom of Information Act request for FBI documents on the Columbine massacre. As a result, we were told that the Bureau's file on the matter contains approximately 3,500 pages. We're not recognized as a news media outlet, so we have to pay 10 cents per page beyond the first 100 pages (which are free), plus any research costs they decide to add. Because we don't have $340+ lying around to ransom these allegedly "public" files, we had to content ourselves with asking for the first 350 or so pages. Over six months later, we received a packet: The FBI had reviewed the first 364 pages of its file and was releasing 320 of those pages. (The other 44 pages were withheld on the grounds that they could invade personal privacy and reveal sources.) All pages have been scanned and formatted as four Acrobat files (above). If you'd like us to be able to buy the remaining portion of the FBI's Columbine file, please consider a donation. |
