Cases involving asbestos exposure are generally received from Navy veterans who were exposed to asbestos while working on U.S. Navy ships.
When the request (from a veteran, his/her personal physician, legal representative, or NOK) asks for copies of records for the purpose of filing a claim regarding asbestos exposure, provide the appropriate copies.
When the request asks for information about possible exposure to asbestos while assigned to Navy ships and subsequent illness or disability, advise the requester to write to:
